Dear Lamoille County Players’ Patrons, Partners, Casts, and Crew
In response to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Lamoille County Players at the Hyde Park Opera House are working to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved in our organization.
We regret to inform you that we will not be producing the Philadelphia Story or Annie in 2020. We remain hopeful that we'll be able to proceed with the remainder of the season (the Children's Theater Workshop, Carousel and Clue on Stage) as scheduled. Due to the continuing uncertainty ticket sales will remain on hold for the time being.
While we are sad to make this decision, we believe this is the safest course of action for our casts, crews, and patrons.
Registration for the Children’s Theater Workshop has been postponed until May 1st. This is subject to change and we will keep you posted.
We thank you all for your continued patronage and look forward to seeing you soon! We encourage all Vermonters to continue to observe the social distancing and other directions from the Governor’s order – stay safe and healthy, everyone! Once the crisis is over, “the show will go on!”
Sincerely,
Lamoille County Players Board of Directors
2020 Children’s Theater Workshop:
Aladdin, Junior
REGISTRATION IS ON HOLD [SEE ABOVE STATEMENT]
The workshop will run from 9:00am - 3:00pm Mon-Fri the weeks of 8/3/20 and 8/10/20 with a final performance on the evening of 8/14/20 at 7:00pm.
The Lamoille County Players is proud to announce the return of the Children’s Theater Workshop, which provides an opportunity for children between the ages of 9-14 to participate in a theatrical production. The cost for the two week workshop is $175. Full and partial scholarships are available by request for those with a need.
This year, the CTW will be a two week, ten-day workshop, Aug 3 - 7 and Aug 10 - 14 (Mon-Fri, both weeks). It is designed to introduce children to theater, cultivate individual talents, and afford those with varied experience the opportunity for continued growth and personal challenge. During the course of the two-week camp, participants will collaborate on all aspects of theater production and performance. The workshop will conclude with a full performance on Friday Aug 14 at 7:00PM.
Please note that while no previous theater experience is necessary. LCP requires that the child have an interest in being involved in the workshop! The workshop will create a supportive and safe environment for the child to try something new; we only ask that they come willing to try and willing to say “Yes!”
The CTW will take place in Hyde Park village, at the historic Hyde Park Opera House, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. The workshop schedule will address many areas of theater: not only auditioning for parts (and contending with the casting choices that are made!) and rehearsing scenes, songs and dances, but also costuming, makeup, sets, props, and more. All activities will ultimately be working toward the performance on August 14th.
Each child should bring their own bag lunch and beverage each day as well as a beach towel. Children should wear comfortable clothes that allow them to sit, lay and roll on the floor, as well as socks, tennis shoes and any dance shoes they may have that will not leave scuff marks. Everything should be able to get dirty, and never hinder movement or imagination. Each child should also bring a 3-ring binder and several pencils each day, and all items should be marked with the child’s name.
This year’s Co-Directors are Kenny Grenier and Acadia LaGue. Kenny is a Music Director/Director from Eden. Currently he is the Fall Musical Director for the Musical at Lamoille Union Middle and High School, where he is also a Substitute Teacher. Kenny also Music Directs and plays in pits at various Middle/High schools in Northern Vermont, as well as with Lamoille County Players and Stowe Theater Guild. He is very excited to be Directing the CTW this year! He is looking forward to not only putting on a great show, but also educating everyone on the various aspects that go into creating a production!
Acadia LaGue is the coach of the Lamoille Union Middle School and Lamoille Union High School's Junior Varsity Dance Teams. She spent three years on the LUHS Varsity Dance Team during her time at Lamoille. She also performed in two One-Act plays, and musicals all four years of high school, including Shrek the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, and The Addams Family, where she played Grandma Addams. She has spent the past two years as Co-Captain of the Northern Vermont University-Johnson Dance Club. She is also pursuing a degree in Dance Education at NVU-Johnson and will be receiving her teaching license in May. She enjoys working with young students because she loves to see how much they can grow as performers as they get older. She wants to inspire the love of dance and the performing arts in as many students as she can. She looks forward to working with LCP through such a fun opportunity!
