The audition scenes posted below are provided as a reference and an opportunity to become familiar with the characters and text. They are not intended to be memorized.
One of the goals of a cold reading audition is to explore a character's possibilities in the moment. During auditions, actors may be asked to adjust their interpretation, read a role in a different way, or explore choices that differ from their initial instincts. We encourage performers to approach the material with flexibility, openness, and a willingness to take direction.
Please note that the director may also provide additional scenes, sides, or monologues that are not included in the materials below if doing so would be beneficial to the casting process.
